the pettiest reason i had unfollowed anyone
they wrote that they did not finish the tattoo on someone, because their friend had died.
i had faced a death of someone i cared about, and when i read the post, it's like something inside of me dropped. my hands got cold and sweaty and my the air around me felt heavy again.
later, the friend they were talking about commented on the blogpost, being all alive and well evidently. apparently it was a joke (or maybe some slang i had not heard of?). but anyway, i unfollowed them. this is petty but some petty small things i cannot do not want to take.
even if it is a joke... just saying that your friend has died is not funny? writing "dead 💀" in a message thread is understandable and is one thing, but literally posting a photo of a half-finished tattoo with a note "did not finish it, because name here died" is not funny, i am sorry but that is the objective truth. have these people not lost anyone ever?
hmm, actually, maybe they haven't. dealing with death changes you, i think maybe people who have never lost anyone they cared about would not think writing this is weird? dunno, just thinking out loud. let me know what you think if you have any thoughts re: this!
